In their first tournament of the season, the Cerritos College women's basketball team finished third at the Riverside Tournament. The Falcons (3-1) will now compete in the Glendale Tournament next weekend and face Santa Barbara City College in their first contest. They opened the tournament with an 80-68 win over Solando College College before suffering a close 66-65 setback against Santa Ana College. In the third place game, the Falcons defeated Grossmont College, 62-54.

Cerritos vs. Solano: Trailing by seven points after the first quarter, Cerritos slowly started to get back into the game with a tough defensive second quarter. They pulled ahead with a 27-13 third quarter performance, and went on to receive double-digit scoring from three starters. Sophomore guard Kennedi Cooper (Lakewood HS) led the team with 16 points, while sophomore forward Ashley Flores (California HS) contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win. As for sophomore guard Clarissa Hernandez (St. Paul HS), she finished with 13 points, with sophomore forward Crystal Lomax (Lynwood HS) adding eight points and six rebounds off the bench. Also playing well off the bench was sophomore forward Miranda Valentin (Bellflower HS), who had six points and six boards.

Cerritos vs. Santa Ana: Unlike their first game of the tournament, the Falcons opened up to a first quarter lead, but struggled in the second quarter, as they Dons led, 34-33 at intermission. Cerritos was only able to score 11 points in the third quarter and trailed by seven points, but fought back in the fourth, only to come up short. Cooper (14 points, five rebounds), Flores (12 points, nine rebounds) and Hernandez (11 points) all played well offensively, while sophomore guard Verenice Gomez (Whittier HS) posted 10 points and four rebounds. Lomax regenerated the offense with seven points and nine rebounds off the bench, while Valentin and sophomore Sydney Lopez (Whittier Christian HS) each scored four points.

Cerritos vs. Grossmont: Both teams experienced difficulty scoring from the outset and it wasn't until the third quarter where the Falcons started to gain some distance against the Griffins. Cooper led the team with 12 points and five rebounds, with the duo of Lopez (seven rebounds) and Hernandez each added nine points. Lopez was inserted into the starting lineup and came though on both ends of the court, while Gomez (eight points, five rebounds) and Flores (seven points, 10 rebounds) also helped the team to the win. Valentin accounted for six points off the bench, as did freshman Kaylyn James (Lakewood HS).
