In both the first and fourth quarters of their South Coast Conference crossover game at East Los Angeles College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's basketball team had trouble scoring. The offensive struggles were their downfall, as they dropped a 59-46 game against the Huskies (16-5), who opened the week ranked #6 in Southern California. The Falcons (14-8), who were ranked #9, shot only 28% from the field on the night.

The two teams each scored the same amount of points in the second and third quarters, with Cerritos getting as close as 41-38 with 1:35 left in the third quarter. But their eight-point fourth quarter, where they went 6:47 without a point, saw that three-point deficit turn into 52-38 ELAC advantage that the Falcons could not recover from.

Freshman Allyson O'Brien (La Habra HS) scored all 11 of her points in the second and third quarter, with sophomores Miranda Valentin (Bellflower HS) and Kennedi Cooper (Lakewood HS) each accounting for nine points each. Valentin and sophomore Chyann Richard (Serra HS/San Diego Christian College) each pulled down nine rebounds, with Richard accounting for seven on the offensive end.

On Friday, the Falcons will host Los Angeles Harbor College at 5:00 p.m., which will serve as the start of divisional play.
