Facing the #3-ranked Long Beach City College in a battle for first place in the South Coast Conference, the Cerritos College women's basketball team picked the wrong time to hit a scoring drought. The teams entered the night tied for first place in the South Division, with the winner taking over sole possession. However, the #10-ranked Falcons (19-8, 3-1) were only able to score two points in the final 3:25 of the game and dropped a 56-46 decision.

Sophomore Crystal Lomax (Lynwood HS) converted the first of two free throws to tie the game at 44-44 with 3:25 remaining in the fourth quarter. But for the remainder of the game, Cerritos was just 1-for-11 from the field, while the Vikings (21-4, 4-0) converted 10-of-11 free throws after the Falcons were forced to foul upon missing their shot attempts.

Trailing from the outset of the game, Cerritos worked their way back on a three-pointer from freshman Allyson O'Brien (La Habra HS), while sophomore Sydney Lopez (Whittier Christian HS) tied the game at 29-29 with 6:33 left in the third period after her trey. They took their only lead of the game (33-30) on a Lomax jumper, followed by a pair of Lopez free throws with 5:13 left in the third quarter.

O'Brien led the team with 10 points, while Lopez finished with nine points off the bench. As a team, Cerritos shot just 24% (16-of-66) from the field and turned the ball over 20 times. Sophomore Janel Oliver (Bellflower HS) pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds off the bench, with sophomore Ashley Flores (California HS) adding six points and seven rebounds.
