With their 25-10, 25-15, 25-16 South Coast Conference win over host Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday, the Cerritos College volleyball team will now play for a share of first place next Wednesday. The Falcons (9-6, 6-1), winners of their last six matches, will host El Camino College at 6:00 p.m. in a battle to see who holds down the top spot in the conference. In their first meeting, the states 10th-ranked Warriors (15-2, 7-0) posted a 25-19, 25-14, 25-16 decision.

In the Falcons win over the Seahawks, sophomore Jasmynne Roberts (Long Beach Poly HS) continued her torrid pace at the net, as she recorded 23 kills with just three errors. With seven more regular season matches to be played, Roberts has amassed 277 kills on the year, which currently places her in the top 20 on the school's single-season list. She had plenty of help at the net, with sophomore Sara Hickman (La Mirada HS) accounting for eight kills, while the duo of sophomores Lisa Villarroel (Long Beach Millikan/LBCC) and Jasmin Mitchell (Warren HS) combined for 11 kills.

Sophomore setter Michelle Barba (Downey HS) continued to direct the offense, and accumulated 25 assists, with freshman Natalie Caravantes (Montebello HS) coming on in relief and contributing nine assists. Villarroel also posted three service aces and four block assists, with Roberts and Hickman each playing strong defense with 13 digs apiece. Freshman Jasmine Peralta (Lakewood HS) leading the way with 14 digs.
