The Cerritos College women's water polo team scored goals in bunches, as they posted a season-high in their 22-5 South Coast Conference win at Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Wednesday. The win was the first of the season in conference play for the Falcons (3-8, 1-2), who will now travel south to compete in the San Diego Mesa Tournament over the weekend. They will take on Grossmont College (12:30 p.m.) and Palomar College (3:45 p.m.) on Friday and follow that up with a 9:00 a.m. game on Saturday against Citrus College and conclude the tournament by facing the host Olympians at 2:30 p.m.

In the win over LA Trade-Tech, sophomore Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) came within one goal of tying the school's single-game record for most goals, as she finished with eight on the day. The school record of nine goals in one game was set by Zeny Esquivel in 1998. Harvey, who scored six of her goals in the first period, also saw time in goal and made two saves.

Every player who saw action scored at least one goal, with sophomore Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS) and freshman Breanna Zuniga (California HS) both contributing three goals, as the Falcons held a 10-2 lead after the first period. Freshman goalie Kristin Park (Cerritos HS), who made seven saves, also saw time in the field and scored her first goal of the season. Freshmen Stephanie Garcia (Montebello HS) and Lucila Davies (Santa Fe HS) also scored their first of the season. Freshman Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) led the defensive effort with five steals.
