The 2019 Cerritos College football staff and team will dedicate their season to the wife of Defensive Coordinator Tom Caines, whose wife Stacy lost her battle with cancer in January. The Falcons, who open the season on Saturday at East Los Angeles College at 6:00 p.m. will all wear Cancer Awareness ribbons on their helmet with the initials "SC" for Stacy Caines.
The two were married for 28 years and have three sons, Justin, who played for the Falcons and is starting his third season as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator, along with Dillon (20) and Bobby (19), who are both students at Cerritos College.
In a statement released by head coach Dean Grosfeld, he said, "Coach Grosfeld and the Cerritos College football program has dedicated the 2019 season in memory of Stacy Caines, wife of Defensive Coordinator Tom Caines and mother to Coach Justin Caines, Dillon and Bobby Caines. Stacy Caines was a beautiful person inside and out that lived a life of selflessness, integrity and compassion. She served the Lord in an extraordinary way. She will be truly missed but never forgotten. Her passion for Falcon football and all of the boys will be carried on throughout the years to come."
