Continuing their high point production, the Cerritos College men's basketball team cracked the 90-point barrier for the second time in four games, as they defeated host El Camino College, 91-62 on Wednesday. The win by the Falcons (14-7, 3-0) was their ninth in a row, while the team will look for their first 10-game winning streak since the 2017-18 season when they travel to Compton College for a 7:00 p.m. South Coast Conference South Division game.
The game remained close for the first 20 minutes, as Cerritos held a 34-24 lead at intermission. But when the second half started, the Falcons came out on fire and went on to connect on 22-of-33 field goals, while they converted half of their 10 three-point attempts.
After missing their first shot of the second half, the Falcons drained their next eight attempts, which turned a 34-26 game into a 54-31 lead and would never look back. Sophomore Jeremiah Galang (Narbonne HS) and freshman Jaishon Forte (Rancho Verde HS) each scored five points during that stretch, with sophomore Jacob Washington (Washington Prep HS/Los Angeles Harbor College) contributing four points.
A pair of baskets off the bench from sophomore Daelyn Bams (Villa Park HS) made it a 58-36 advantage, with freshman Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS) following that by scoring while getting fouled, but could not convert the three-point play. The lead eventually reached 32 points before settling on the 91-62 victory.
The top two Falcon scorers on the night came off the bench from Bams (15 points, 12 rebounds) and freshman Cerroy Chenault (Warren HS), who posted 14 points, which included going 4-for-5 from three-point range. Galang and Forte combined for 21 points, with Washington finishing with eight points and nine rebounds. The bench combined to score 54 points, with Harris posting nine points and five rebounds, and freshman Joshua Belvin (St. Anthony HS) dishing out seven assists to go along with his six points and four rebounds. Sophomore Jalen Washington (Bishop Montgomery HS) also had seven assists to go with his seven points.
