M. Swimming: First home dual of the season for the Falcons

Hosting their first dual meet of the season, the Cerritos College men's swimming team took on El Camino College on Friday. The Falcons will conclude their South Coast Conference dual meet schedule at home next Friday at 10:00 a.m. when they host both Chaffey College and Rio Hondo College.

In their dual against the Warriors, the team posted second place finishes in seven different events. The day started with the quartet of Johan Gaytan (Downey HS), Timothy Robles (Schurr HS), Alejandro Velasco (South East HS) and Diego Campos (Downey HS) turning in a time of 1:54.13 in the 200-yard medley relay for a second place finish.

Individually, Gaytan and Campos earned a pair of second place results. In the 200-yard backstroke, Gaytan posted a time of 2:23.95, while his time of 11:50.89 in the 1000-yard freestyle resulted in second place finishes, with Campos turning his in the 50-yard freestyle (24.27) and 100-yard freestyle (54.12).

In the 100-yard backstroke, Martin Gonzalez (Western HS) placed second with a clocking of 1:11.49, with Declan Nelson (Corona HS) finishing second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.10.
