In their final South Coast Conference dual meet of the season, the Cerritos College men's swimming team posted a pair of wins on Friday at the Cerritos Aquatic Center. The Falcons turned in wins over both Chaffey College (121-81) and Rio Hondo College (169-20) and finished the season with a 3-3 record. They will take the next two weeks off to prepare for the South Coast Conference Championships, which will take place from April 18-20 at Mt. San Antonio College.

On the day, the Falcons win six races, including both relay races to help them with the sweep. In the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of Johan Gaytan (Downey HS), Timothy Robles (Schurr HS), Alejandro Velasco (South East HS) and Diego Campos (Downey HS) turned in a first place time of 1:55.37, while the same foursome posted the fastest time in the 400-yard freestyle at 3:51.48.

Gaytan also won two individual races, including the 500-yard freestyle, where he was the lone swimmer. He posted a time of 5:32.27, and was the first of three Cerritos swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.40. The team also accounted for all three entries in the 1000-yard freestyle, with Brandon Alcala (Warren HS) recording the fastest time of 12:37.23, which was 40 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Campos also won the 50-yard freestyle when he was times in 23.65.

Campos posted a second place time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.52), while Velasco placed second in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:02.43. In the 100-yard freestyle, Max Lucero (Whittier HS) recorded a second place time of 57.24, with Ruben Martinez (Western HS) taking second in the 100-yard breaststroke when he was timed in 1:16.40.
