As the only community college running in the main race at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in 13th place out of 17 colleges. The Falcons, who finished with 347 team points, held off four other colleges in the team scoring. Next Friday, Cerritos will compete in the South Coast Conference Championships at Heartwell Park in Long Beach.

Running in their longest race of the season at 8K, the Falcons were led by Louis Santibanez (Warren HS), who checked in with a 59th place time of 25:36.3 and was in a pack of runners that all finished within one second of each other. Not too far behind was Jacob Cosio (California HS), as his time of 25:42.4 put him in 65th place overall out of 139 entires. There was a 12-second dropoff before the next Cerritos runner completed the course, but they had two runners in a tight pack. Tyler Villanueva (Warren HS) finished in 79th place in a time of 25:54.2, with Joshua Melendez (St. Paul HS) right behind in 25:54.9, good for 81st place.

Closing out the team scoring for the Falcons was Robert Guerrero (Long Beach Poly HS), who earned a 94th place finish in a time of 26:11.1, while the team was also represented by three other runners in the race. They included Axel Rebolledo-Ynostros (California HS), who placed 115th in 26:49.7, along with Joshua Morales (Warren HS) in 26:54.0, good for 118th place and Noah Addison (Long Beach Poly HS) in 130th place with a time of 27:38.0.

There was also an overflow race that included 18 more teams with the Falcons coming in 12th place with 364 team points. Two other community college competed in that race, which was also an 8k race and consisted of 269 runners.

Cerritos was represented by the following: Mikel Bautista (Warren HS; 27:40.2; 126th place), Gerardo Rubio (Warren HS/Long Beach City College) 28:38.8; 154th place), Nikolas Dominguez (Downey HS; 28:24.7; 156th place), Matthew Alvarez (28:32.1; 164th place) and Daniel Gonzalez (Schurr HS; 29:06.7; 187th place).
