Continuing a series of tough games in a row, the Cerritos College softball team suffered a tough 1-0 South Coast Conference loss at the hands of host Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday. The Falcons (9-2, 3-1) have a day off before they host undefeated El Camino College in another conference game at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The Mounties pushed the lone run across the plate in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs and a runner on first base, Samantha Orozco doubled home Mia Martin, who reached on a fielder's choice.

Cerritos pitcher Tatyana Cortez (La Serna HS) limited Mt. San Antonio to just two hits on the day and struck out three batters.

At the plate for the Falcons, they had a runner on base in every inning, but could not string any hits together until the sixth inning. With one out, freshman first baseman Valerie Vasquez (California HS) and sophomore designated player Briana Zarate (Legacy HS/Compton College) each singled. However, they ran out of the inning when sophomore Ayiana Cardenas (Walnut HS) hit into a fielder's choice, but both runners were run down to end the inning.

A leadoff single by sophomore outfielder Morgan Fontela (Long Beach Millikan HS) got the seventh inning started. Cerritos had runners at first and second base when freshman outfielder Amarie Encarnacion (Norwalk HS) drew a walk. But freshman third baseman Marley Cortez (Gahr HS) hit into a game-ending double play.
