In their SCWA Southwest Conference match on Wednesday, the Cerritos College wrestling team came up short against host Rio Hondo College. The Falcons dropped a 26-18 decision to the Roadrunners and will now prepare for the Southern California Team Regionals, which will be hosted at Cerritos.

The Falcons had a chance to pull out the win, but suffered losses in the final two weights of the night, which allowed Rio Hondo to post just their third win over Cerritos in the last 20 years. As a team, the Falcons won just four of the 10 matches, but received a forfeit at 125 pounds, while they also recorded a pin.

Freshman Tyler Hanna (South Torrance HS/Cal State Bakersfield) was able to pin Steven Ceja 1:08 into the second period to earn Cerritos six team points. Also winning on the day were Nicholas Pham (Westminster HS) at 157 pounds (9-3), while Ben Setum (Pacifica HS) earned a 7-2 win at 184 pounds.
