On Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team earned their first win of the season, as they shut out host Saddleback College, 9-0. The Falcons (1-2) will host Cypress College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in a non-conference match.

In the match, Cerritos swept the five matches that were played in straight sets. Picking up their first wins of the season in singles action were freshmen Samantha Sanchez (Bellflower HS), Clara Kim (Warren HS), Stephanie Vega, while Andrea Antonio (Garfield HS) received a win via forfeit. Sanchez won a tiebreaker in the first set, 7-0 against Alexa Berg in the #1 position and followed that win a 6-4 win in the second set. As for Kim, she earned a pair of 6-2 set wins in the #2 position, as the two switched spots in the lineup for the first time this year.

Freshman Mikaela Ramirez (La Mirada HS) improved to 3-0 on the season with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory, with freshman Melissa Mayorga (El Rancho HS) dropping just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

The Falcons also won both of the doubles matches that were held, with Kim and Sanchez posting an 8-4 win for their first victory of the season, with Vega and Mayorga dispatching Katarina De Almeida and Veronica Avyazian, 6-2.
