The Cerritos College women's tennis team slipped to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in South Coast Conference action after a 9-0 loss to visiting El Camino College on Thursday. The Falcons come right back on Friday and will host Santa Barbara City College at 2:00 p.m. in a non-conference match.

The Falcons battled it out in a tough #3 doubles match, with freshmen Mikaela Ramirez (La Mirada HS) and Andrea Antonio (Garfield HS) finally falling in an 8-5 score. The other two doubles teams combined to win just five games.

Singles play saw Cerritos capture only two combined games in the top three spots on the ladder. Freshman Melissa Mayora (El Rancho HS) won three games in her first set before bowing, 3-6, 1-5, while Antonio played a close first set, but wound up on the wrong side of a 4-6, 1-6 decision.
