Long Beach City swept the Falcons in three sets

On Friday, crosstown rival Long Beach City College swept past the Cerritos College volleyball team, 11-25, 12-25, 10-25 in a South Coast Conference South Division match. The loss drops the Falcons record to 0-14 overall and 0-2 in the South Division. The team will play their next six matches on the road, with the first coming at 6:00 p.m. at Los Angeles Harbor College.

In the setback against the Vikings (10-3, 2-0), the first set was tied at 6-6, but poor attacks at the net were their downfall. Long Beach City scored 19 of the next 25 points, with eight of those points coming on Falcon attack errors. Cerritos gave up points in bunches in the next two sets, but trailed only 13-9 at one point, until the Vikings scored the next eight points to take a commanding lead.

It was more of the same in the third set, with the Falcons recording just two kills. On the night, freshman Jody Suski (Cerritos HS) and sophomore Daisy Segura (Cerritos HS) accounted for 12 of the team's 13 total kills, with Suski and freshman Nataly Reynoso (Pioneer HS) combining for 21 digs. Freshman setter Sabrina Rivas (California HS) finished with nine assists.
