Using solid passing and an affective net presence, the El Camino Warriors swept past the host Cerritos College volleyball team in a South Coast Conference match on Friday. The Falcons (5-4, 1-1), who suffered a 12-25, 16-25, 13-25 setback, will play their next three matches on the road. They start with a 6:00 p.m. conference match at Los Angeles Harbor College next Tuesday.

The Warriors (7-4, 2-0) scored points in bunches, which kept the Falcons at bay with any effort to get back into one of the sets. A slow start in the first set put Cerritos in a bad spot, with El Camino recording an amazing 20 kills in that set. The second set was tied at 9-9 after a Warrior service error, but then surrendered four straight points and didn't get any closer.

Cerritos scored the first three points of the third game on kills from freshmen Gladys Garcia (Elizabeth Learning Center HS) and Andrea Garcia (Bellflower HS), along with a service ace from freshman Marissa Reyna (Norwalk HS). However, El Camino recorded the next 13 points and never looked back.

The trio of Andrea Garcia, Alexia Torres (Downey HS) and Brooke Winquist (Carlsbad International School, Czechia) each had a team-high four kills, with sophomore setter Mirka Granoble (Downey HS) accounting for a team-high 14 assists and 11 digs. Reyna and Gladys Garcia each added 10 digs in the back row, with Winquist posting a solo block and block assist.
