In a South Coast Conference match on Wednesday, the Cerritos College volleyball team suffered a 20-25, 16-25, 15-25 loss to host Mt. San Antonio College. The loss drops the Falcons overall record to 1-11, while they are 1-4 in conference play. The team will host Pasadena City College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Although they played well in spurts against the Mounties (5-11, 2-3), Cerritos just wasn't able to put it all together while playing without two regulars. Sophomore Lizbeth Vega (Paramount HS) and freshman Marissa Reyna (Norwalk HS), who have both taken on the role of libero, were unavailable, which affected their defense and rotation.

The lone bright spot for the Falcons was sophomore Alexia Torres (Downey HS), who slammed home 12 kills with just one attack error in 19 attempts on the night. Sophomore setter Mirka Granoble (Downey HS), who had 22 assists, was able to get her the ball in the right spots to keep Cerritos competitive on the night.

Freshman Jackie Dixon (Gahr HS) did add six kills, with sophomore Sierra Hernandez-Hardy (Bishop Amat HS) producing three service aces. Dixon and freshman Andrea Garcia (Bellflower HS) led the team with seven digs each, with sophomore Brooke Winquist (Carlsbad International School, Czechia) contributing three kills and three digs.
