Possibly still mentally exhausted from their stunning win over Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to crosstown rival Long Beach City College on Friday night. The Falcons (7-3, 3-1) were defeated, 21-25, 14-25, 19-25 by the Vikings (6-4, 4-1), when ended the team's four-match winning streak. Cerritos will play their second of four straight road matches next Wednesday when they travel to Compton College for a 6:00 p.m. start.

The magic that happened for the Falcons against the Mounties didn't continue against the Vikings, as many of their attacks landed just out of play, which prevented the team from gaining any type of momentum. Adding to that, LB City was able to hit across the net, which caught Cerritos off-balance, turning out to be another obstacle they never rebounded from.

Cerritos did get a balance on offense, with freshman Jayda Harris-Amete (La Mirada HS) leading the team with five kills, while adding eight digs and a pair of service aces. Freshmen Aiyana Sierra (La Mirada HS) and Abigail Gutierrez (Downey HS) each turned in four kills for the Falcons, while four other players had three kills. Freshman setter Carissa Mendibles (Downey HS), who was one of the players with three kills, also posted 18 assists, Freshman Madison Borja (La Mirada HS) played her best match of the season with three kills and had a trio of digs.
