Holding strong with their #20 ranking in the state, the Cerritos College volleyball team defeated host San Bernardino Valley College in straight sets, 25-12, 25-20, 25-21 on Wednesday. The win was the second in a row for the Falcons (6-2), who continue to play well on the road this season. They open their South Coast Conference crossover schedule next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. when they travel to Rio Hondo College.

As a team, the Falcons played well at the net and opened an early lead in the first set. They maintained that success at both the net and in the back row, as they hit .276 as a team and recorded 46 digs.

Sophomore Monserrat Rodriguez (Gahr HS/Long Beach City College) led the attack with 12 kills, with sophomore Jasmine Soto-Castro (Schurr HS) contributing 11 kills, seven digs and four service aces in another fine all-around performance. Sophomore Sydney May (Los Alamitos HS/UC Santa Cruz) continued to take on multiple roles with the team, as she registered eight kills to go along with 11 assists and nine digs. Sophomore Priscilla Castillo (Schurr HS) led the back row with 12 digs, with six players finishing with at least two kills.
