Needing a little over an hour to defeat Los Angeles City College on Wednesday, 25-8, 25-7, 25-12, the Cerritos College volleyball team extended their winning streak to nine in a row. The Falcons (13-2, 4-0), who sit atop the South Coast Conference South Division, will host East Los Angeles College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The team is also ranked #12 in the state and #7 in Southern California.

The win allowed more players to see action off the bench, as nine different players recorded at least one kill. Cerritos controlled the match from beginning to end and saw sophomores Lillianna Peterson (California HS) and Monserrat Rodriguez (Gahr HS/Long Beach City College) lead the way with seven kills each, as the team posted a .388 killing percentage.

The foursome of Sydney May (Los Alamitos HS/UC Santa Cruz), Evelyn Soto-Castro (Schurr HS), Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS) and Jasmine Soto-Castro (Schurr HS) combined to add 17 more kills without committing an error, while Rodriguez and Rubio both served up five aces in the win. The setting duties were combined, with Rubio and Giovanna Gomez (Bellflower HS) directing the offense to 22 assists.
