It might still be early in the South Coast Conference season for the Cerritos College women's water polo team, but they have won both their games by a combined 32-7 score. The Falcons (9-1, 2-0) won their seventh game in a row on Wednesday when they defeated host Rio Hondo College, 19-3. The team will now host a one-day tournament along with the men's team and play a pair of games, including one that will count against their conference record. On Saturday, Cerritos will take on Chaffey College at 8:00 a.m. and then play Orange Coast College at 4:20 p.m. in a game that could have post-season seeding implications.

Against the Roadrunners, Cerritos scored the game's first 11 goals, as they took an 11-0 lead into intermission. In that first half, six different players scored for the Falcons, while the second half was left for sophomore Gabriella Arenas (Montebello HS), who scored seven of the team's eight goals in the final two quarters. Arenas, who has scored all 14 of her goals this season in the last three games, accounted for five in a row, including the first four in the fourth period.

Freshman Kaya Glynn (Cerritos HS) added three goals and a pair of assists, with the quartet of sophomore Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS), along with freshmen Keyla Santos (Schurr HS), Miranda Alvarez (Schurr HS) and Angelina Romero (Schurr HS) all scoring twice. Freshman Kimberly Vasquez (Downey HS) led the team with a trio of assists, with Alvarez accounting for seven of the Falcons 14 steals in the game. Starting her third game in a row, sophomore Haili Snook (Downey HS) improved to 3-0 and made six saves, while also assisting on a goal.
