The Cerritos College men's swimming team pulled out a close 141-139 South Coast Conference win over Chaffey College on Friday. The Falcons were able to pick up the victory on the strength of winning five individual races and one relay race. They also picked up critical points with their depth in each of the competitions. The team will now take a week off before they host Mt. San Antonio College and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on March 14 in their only home event.

In the relay event, the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of Henry Rodriguez (Downey HS), Alan Pae (Kennedy HS), Marcus Delgado (La Serna HS) and Marlon Moreno (Colegio Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela HS) won by six seconds with a time of 1:44.94. The Falcons also took second place with a time of 1:50.58 and that team consisted of Diego Lucas (Warren HS), Randy Baldwin (Buena Park HS), Daryl DaSilva (Cerritos HS) and Peter Roldan (Downey HS).

Moreno won three invidiual events, as he took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.93, while teammates Thomas Duenez (El Rancho HS) and Matthew Skinas (La Serna HS) placed third and fourth, respectively. He also picked up wins in the 50-yard freestyle (22.55) and 100-yard freestyle (49.45). Roldan (23.57) and Delgado (23.83) came in third and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, while they took the same places in the 100-yard freestyle, with times of 51.60 and 54.08, respectively. Pae posted a first place time of 1:05.13 to win the 100-yard breaststroke and edged Delgado, who took second place in 1:06.19.

Earning a second place in the 1000-yard freestyle was Fernando Lua (Gahr HS) with a time of 11:31.79, with Baldwin posting a second place time of 2:07.02 in the 200-yard butterfly. Pae helped the team with his second place time of 2:22.33 in the 200-yard breaststroke, as did Baldwin in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.63). In the 100-yard butterfly, DaSilva finished in 1:00.35 to come in second place, with David Lumbreras (Downey HS) earning a third place in 1:04.21.
