M. Tennis: Shutout win improves team's record to 4-1

On Tuesday, the Cerritos College men's tennis team swept through all six singles matches and added three doubles wins to post a 9-0 win over host Glendale College. With the victory, the Falcons improved to 4-1 on the year. They will now open South Coast Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Victor Valley College for a 2:00 p.m. match.

Of the six singles matches, two of them were 6-0, 6-0 sweeps, while three others saw the Falcons lose just one game. Freshmen Aleks Trifunovic (Katrinelunds Gymnasium, Sweden) and Eliot Dota (Paris, France) did not lose a game in their individual matches, while the trio of freshmen Oleksandr Krasnov (School 106, Ukraine) and James Zhang (Shenzhen Luohu Foreign Language School, China), along with sophomore Agustin Lombardi (E.S.D.S., Argentina) dropped just one game each in their wins.

As for freshman Nikita Katsnelson (Odessa Gymnasium No. 1, Ukraine), he opened with a 6-0 victory in the #2 position on the ladder and then was extended to a 6-4 set by David Ismailian.

Doubles action saw Dota and sophomore Edgar Munoz (Paramount HS) earn an 8-0 win, while Lombardi and sophomore Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) recorded an 8-2 win. The closest match of the day came in the #1 doubles match, with Trifunovic and Zhang posting an 8-5 victory.
