The Cerritos College women's swimming team came up short against both of their opponents in a South Coast Conference meet on Friday. The Falcons (2-4) were defeated by host El Camino College (169-104) and East Los Angeles College (144-127). The team will now host their final conference dual meet on Friday at 12:30 p.m. against Chaffey College and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College.

Sophomore Amanda Loya (St. Joseph HS) was the lone Cerritos swimmer to win an event, as she captured a pair of first place finishes. It was her time of 1:13.35 in the 100-yard breaststroke that edged Tiffany Oliver (1:13.90) of El Camino for first place, while she also beat Oliver to the finish in the 200-yard breastroke. Loya posted a winning time of 2:40.77, with Oliver in second place at 2:41.41.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the foursome of Angela Covarrubias (Paramount HS), Loya, Stephanie Alfaro (Gahr HS) and Elizabeth Alfaro (Gahr HS) placed third in 2:05.16. Elizabeth Alfaro added a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:14.28, while Stephanie Alfaro earned third place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.13) and 200-yard butterfly (2:36.81). As for Loya, she took third place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:25.94 and just missed second place, which went to Martina Exclerova of El Camino College in 2:25.74.

Breanna Zuniga (California HS) turned in a third place time of 13:06.09 in the 1000-yard freestyle, while diver Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) accumulated 103.35 points to take second place in the 1-meter and 3-meter event. The day ended with the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Gabriela Bobadilla (South Gate HS), Devin Phommachanh (La Habra HS), Vanessa Hinojosa (Bell Gardens HS) and Zuniga taking third with a time of 4:45.79.
