On the first day of the South Coast Conference Championships at East Los Angeles College, Cerritos College sophomore Amanda Loya (St. Joseph HS) set a new school record in the 200-yard IM. Her time of 2:12.93 broke the old record by Kat Gabayeron by a little more than a second and it earned her second place in the event. After the first day of the three-day event, the Falcons were in fourth place with 114 team points.

Loya sat in third place after the second stroke was completed, but moved into second place by the third stroke and finished behind Liza Echeverria of Pasadena City College, who won the event with a time of 2:11.81. In the first championship event of the day, the Falcon 200-yard freestyle relay team finished in fourth place with a time of 1:46.52. That quartet consisted of Angela Covarrubias (Paramount HS), Gabriella Bobadilla (South Gate HS), Elizabeth Alfaro (Gahr HS) and Loya.

Covarrubias earned a sixth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.11, with the 400-yard medley relay team of Covarrubias, Loya, Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS) and Alfaro recording a fourth place time of 4:24.54. In the 1-meter diving event held last week at El Camino College, freshman Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) earned 99.15 points to finish in third place.
