On the second day of the South Coast Conference Championships, Cerritos College sophomore swimmer Amanda Loya (St. Joseph HS) added an individual championship to her school record. Loya, who broke the school record in the 200-yard IM on Thursday, won the 100-yard breaststroke, as the Falcons sit in fourth place with 301 team points with one more day of competition at East Los Angeles College.

In the event, Loya was able to beat East LA's Yingfei Zhang by the slimmest of margins, as she touched up in 1:07.11 with Zhang swimming a 1:07.15. The time by Loya also set a new school record, eclipsing the time of 1:07.40 that she turned in at last years's state championships. It marks the second school record for Loya in as many days.

The day started with the Falcons taking fifth in the 200-yard medley relay, with the quartet of Angela Covarrubias (Paramount HS), Loya, Stephanie Alfaro (Gahr HS) and Elizabeth Alfaro (Gahr HS) recording a time of 1:58.63, which was just shy of fourth place, as Mt. San Antonio College posted a time of 1:58.57. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS), Ashley Padilla (California HS), Breanna Zuniga (California HS) and Nicole Alvarado (Whittier HS) turned in a seventh place time of 9:32.68.

In individual races, Covarrubias swam the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06.32 to finish in fifth place. Stephanie Alfaro took sixth place in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:07.33, while Elizabeth Alfaro saw her time of 2:09.18 put her in eighth place in the 200-yard freestyle. Freshman Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) earned second place points in the 3-meter diving event when she accumulated 84.40 points.
