With 17 schools competing in the Golden West Invitational on Friday, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in fourth place with 119 team points. The Falcons were not far from third place Mt. San Antonio College (109 team points) and second place Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (105 team points), who are both South Coast Conference opponents. The team will now run in the San Diego Invitation on Friday at Mission Bay Park.

Leading the way for the Falcons in the 5K race was sophomore Kathia Avila (Cerritos HS), whose time of 19:23.49 earned her a 12th place finish out of 161 runners. Keeping close were freshman Stephanie Ruiz (Western HS), who was clocked in 19:33.57 to earn a 17th place finish, with freshman Ariel Melendez (St. Paul HS) taking 22nd place in a time of 19:46.05. Rounding out the team scoring were a pair of sophomores, with Kaela Crone (Kennedy HS) coming in 36th place with a time of 20:20.17, while Patricia Hurley (Mark Keppel HS) saw her time of 20:24.17 earn her 42nd place.

Also running for Cerritos were Isabel Medina (Paramount HS; 51st place; 20:33.88), Maddy Focht (Long Beach Poly HS; 67th place; 21:06.61), Janet Salazar (Paramount HS; 69th place; 21:08.09), Angelyca Osnaya-Tyson (Long Beach Poly HS; 96th place; 21:55.04), Katherine De La Torre (Pomona Catholic HS; 99th place; 22:06.79), Natalie Lenarduzzi (John Marshall HS; 100th place; 22:08.37) and Neiva Cuevas (Western HS; 122nd place; 23:16.00).
