With a pair of 5-0 wins on Friday, the Cerritos College beach volleyball team has now won four in a row and have a 12-5 overall record on the season. The Falcons are also 2-2 in South Coast Conference action and will travel to El Camino College next Friday for a noon conference match.

Cerritos earned 5-0 wins over both College of the Desert and the LA Harbor Club team, with only one of the pairs extended to a third set. In the win over the Roadrunners (2-14, 0-4), the #3 pair of Brisa Cortez (Schurr HS) and Nayeli SalasOrtiz (Schurr HS), as well as the #5 pair of Lillianna Peterson (California HS) and Margaret Norton (La Mirada HS) got things going with quick wins. Cortez and SalasOrtiz improved to 9-1 in the #3 spot and 13-4 overall with their 21-5, 21-10 win, with Peterson and Norton now 3-0 on the year with a 21-13, 21-11 win.

At the top of the ladder, the tandem of Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS) and Josie Navarro (Sierra Vista HS) solified their position for Cerritos with a 21-17, 21-5 win to improve to 5-2 in the #1 spot, with the duo of Herlinda Casanova (St. Joseph HS) and Juliette Casillas (La Serna HS) locked down a 21-16, 21-16 win in the #4 spot. The lone match that went to a tie-breaker came in the #2 position, as the pair of Monserrat Rodriguez (Gahr HS) and Rosie Cazares-Gonzalez (El Rancho HS) opened with a 21-17 win and after dropping the second set, 16-21, earned a 15-9 win in the third set.

The match against LA Harbor went quickly, with Rubio and Navarro leading off with a 21-16, 21-12 win, while Rodriguez and Cazeras-Gonzalez secured a 21-10, 21-11 win. Playing in the #3 position, Cortez and SalasOrtiz turned in a 21-10, 21-10 win, with Casanova and Casillas adding a 21-12, 21-11 win in the #5 position. The only change in the lineup came in the #4 spot, with Abby Gutierrez (Downey HS) and Aiyana Sierra (La Mirada HS) recording a convincing 21-2, 21-19 win.
