Football: No bowl game for Falcons

Morgan Fennell and the potent Falcon offense won't get a chance to display their talents after a 5-5 season did not result in a bowl game.

If not for a couple poorly placed injuries in one of the most crucial games of the season, there's no way of knowing if the Cerritos College football team would have extended their season to the playoffs. But injuries to sophomore quarterback Morgan Fennell (Long Beach Poly HS) and sophomore cornerback Theodore Chambers (Mayfair HS) in the game against Ventura College played a key role in the team's 18-13 loss, that was followed by two more setbacks, as the Falcons finished the season with a 5-5 record. The team found out that they did not receive a post-season bowl game, either.

Cerritos, winners of the the last two Northern Conference championships and participant in the Southern California Championship game, finished in fourth place after concluding their season with a 42-20 win over Moorpark College.

All five of the losses this season were to teams that either made the playoffs or received bowl bids. The three defeats in a row were by a combined 14 points, with the other losses coming against #1-seeded Mt. San Antonio College (20-8) and an opening season loss to Los Angeles Harbor College (35-20), who is playing in the Golden State Bowl.
