With a pair of goals in both halves, the Cerritos College men's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 4-1 non-conference victory at San Diego City College on Tuesday. The Falcons (6-0-1), ranked #4 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, are now unbeaten in their last 31 matches (28-0-3) dating back to last season. The team will head back down to San Diego Country on Friday when they take on Cuyamaca College at 4:30 p.m. in another non-conference match.

Cerritos took a 2-0 lead fairly late into the first half, with the first goal coming courtesy of a penalty kick. Sophomore Bryan Ortega (Paramount HS) stepped up and drilled a shot past Knights (0-4-0) goalkeeper Sebastian Guillen in the 35th minute for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. With time running out in the half, freshman Bryan Perez (Simon Rodia HS) fed freshman Armando Ibarra, Jr. (Downey HS), who finished the play in the 44th minute to collect his first goal of the year.

Although San Diego City was winless on the season, they kept battling and cut the Falcons lead in half in the 64th minute. Regaining their composure, Cerritos once again led by a pair of goals 11 minutes later, as sophomore Kevin Diaz (Connections Academy HS) finished the play after receiving a nice pass from freshman Hector Aguirre-Ruiz (Montebello HS). It was Diaz who had a hand in the final goal, which came in the 87th minute, as he threaded a pass to sophomore Carlos Payeras (Lennox Academy HS) and he added an insurance goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Jose Azpeitia (Valencia HS) earned the win and posted two saves.
