Cerritos College Water Polo (2012): Played in 16 games and scored eight goals with seven assists and six steals… Posted a season-high three goals and added a steal against Salem International (WV) University and added a pair of goals against Santa Ana College… Scored once and added a pair of assists against Chaffey College…..

Cerritos College Water Polo (2011): Appeared in 15 games and posted seven goals, with six assists and four steals… Scored a season-high two goals against Los Angeles Trade-Tech College had two goals and an assist against Southwestern College… Posted a goal and assist against both Chaffey College and Lindenwood (MO) University…..

Montebello HS: Helped lead his water polo team to the CIF Division III championship as a senior, while they won the Almont League title four years in a row… Spent four years on the water polo and swimming teams… Competed in the 100-yard freestyle (52.0), and 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.0) in swimming…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was his team’s CIF Championship overtime win his senior year… Would like to transfer to USC and aspires to work in government accounting… His father played baseball in high school, while his sister Erika (25) played water polo at Montebello High and cousin plays water polo at El Rancho High… Likes to go deep sea fishing and play soccer in his spare time… Has another sister – Wendy (32)… Nicknamed “Big Sam”… Is the son of Richard and Amparo Raya… Born in Los Angeles, CA on October 14, 1992…..
