Joe Joson
Title: Assistant Coach
Year: 1st

One of the main reasons that the Cerritos College Aquatic Center is kept in such great shape is because of the efforts of Joe Joson. Starting his first season as an assistant on the swimming staff, as well as being in his second season as a member of the water polo coaching staff, Joson is a former Cerritos water polo player and swimmer during the 2009-10 seasons.

While on the water polo team, he played in a total of 49 games and recorded 24 goals, with 14 assists and 25 steals over the course of his two seasons. As a swimmer, Joson placed 10th in the 100-yard butterfly at the South Coast Conference Championships his freshman season and took 16th as a sophomore, while finishing in 15th place in the 200-yard butterfly.

Joson prepped at St. John Bosco High before attending Cerritos. After two seasons with the Falcons, Joson transferred to Notre Dame (OH) College and spent one season with the Falcons until they dropped the water polo program.

Joson had already started his coaching career and was an Age Group Coach for Lakewood Aquatics from 2011-18, while he also served as a girls swimming and water polo assistant coach at Lakewood High from 2016-17. He is also currently coaching at the Goldenwest Swim Club. Joson also holds an American Swim Coaching Association Level II license.

Joson, 30, earned his Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Cerritos College.
