At the Southern California Championships in Saturday, the Cerritos College men's track and field team finished in a fifth place tie with 28 team points. The Falcons will now send nine athletes to the CCCAA State Championships, which will take place at Bakersfield College next weekend.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Saadiq Jennings (Martin Luther Kings HS), Micqwaun Wright (Paramount HS), Jacob Garrett (Fountain Valley HS) and Tayric Elliott (Long Beach Poly HS) posted a fourth place time of 42.33, while Jennings and Elliott were joined by Darion Blanding (Narbonne HS) and Clay Green (Los Alamitos HS) in the 4x400-meter relay to record a fifth place time of 3:22.22.
In the field events, Bedeiah Togafau (Warren HS) finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 14.47 meters, with teammate Jorge Bergara (Salesian HS) taking seventh place. Freshman hammer thrower Mason Crane (Corona del Mar HS) earned fourth place in the hammer with a toss of 50.74 meters.
