In their first meet of the season, the Cerritos College men's track and field team posted wins in five field events as they hosted the Cerritos All-Comers on Saturday. The Falcons will take the next week off before competing in the Pasadena City Open.

On the day, Cerritos won six events, but excelled in the throwing events. They took the top two spots in the shot put, as freshman Wasim Nasrallah (Los Alamitos HS) recorded a distance of 42' 2 1/2" to win the event, with sophomore teammate Silas Hurst (Santiago HS/Washington State University) turning in a second place performance of 39' 10 1/2". As a team, the Falcons recorded five of the top seven distances in the event. Nasrallah (130' 3") and Hurst (124' 6") finished second and third, respectivley in the discus, while freshmen Justin Organista and Casanova Ah-Fook (Warren HS), who posted throws of 121' 8" and 120' 11", came in fourth and fifth.

It was a distance of 47' 6" that easily won the weight throw for Hurst, with freshman Joseph Medina (Bell Gardens HS) at 39' 3" and freshman Noah Palacios (Downey HS) at 38' 10" a distant third and fourth places. Freshman Niko Mancini (Broadalbin-Perth, NY HS) picked up a win in the javelin with a throw that cleared 150' 1", while Hurst also performed well in the hammer with a second place throw of 147' 10".

In the high jump, freshman Alan Tabales (Long Beach Millikan HS) cleared 6' 4" to win the event, with freshman Marqis Turner (Centennial, NV HS) in third place at 5' 10". Sophomore pole vaulter Brian Lantan (Bell Gardens HS) tied for first place with his clearance of 14'.

The 400-meter relay quartet of Makai Smith (Mayfair HS), Colby Owens, Brandon Jones and Jacob Haley (Irvine HS) were the first of four Cerritos teams to run the race and turned in a time of 3:36.76, which was seven seconds ahead of their closest competition. In the 3200-meter relay, the foursome of Joe Munoz (Long Beach Jordan HS), Joshua Williams (Los Alamitos HS), Alberto Serrano (St. John Bosco HS) and Jesse Sanson (Downey HS) posted a second place time of 8:41.46.

Mancini also same in second place in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.71, with sophomore Pablo Calderon (Downey HS) checking in with a second place time of 8:58.48 in the 3000 meters. The mile race had Antonio Calderon (La Mirada HS), Pablo Calderon, Serrano and Jaime Quinones (Downey HS) finish third through sixth place, respectively.
