Cerritos College Men’s Water Polo (2016): Played in 25 games and started 19 times… Finished the season with a 14-2 record and recorded 155 saves with a 48.3 save percentage… Also had 27 saves and assisted on eight goals… Had a season-high 15 saves against Mt. San Antonio College and finished with 12 saves against both Riverside College and Palomar College…..
Montebello HS: Voted his team’s Defensive Player of the Year after recording 200 blocks his senior year… Recorded 190 blocks as a junior and was voted his team’s Most Valuable Player… Helped lead the team to four straight Almont League championships, while they reached the CIF championship game his junior year… Spent four years on the water polo team and three with the swimming team… Specialized in the 50-yard freestyle (24.0) and 50 yard breaststroke (28.0)…..
Personal: Most memorable moment was when he had 18 blocks in a 2nd Round CIF Playoff game and recording 200 blocks as a senior… Would like to transfer to Azusa Pacific University or any other school with a nursing program and aspires to be a nurse practitioner… Hobbies include surfing… Nicknamed “Matt”… Has two siblings – Jacob (13) and Arianna (11)… Is the son of Meliton and Ruth Contreras… Born in Harbor City, CA on November 14, 1998…..
