With just one more South Coast Conference match remaining, the Cerritos College men's water polo team is sitting in a tie for second place. Their 13-4 win over host Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday moved into a tie with the Mounties. The Falcons (14-7, 3-1) will travel to Long Beach City College next Wednesday with a chance at the top seed for the conference tournament. Mt. SAC also has a game left with the first place Vikings (10-3, 3-0). If Mt. SAC loses to Long Beach, Cerritos will secure the #2 seed for the tournament.

In their win over the Mounties, the Falcons built up a 5-0 second quarter lead and went into halftime holding an 8-2 advantage. As is their norm, Cerritos received goals from seven different players in the first half and were led by a trio of players who scored three times each in the game.

Sophomores Julian Casillas (Harvard-Westlake HS/University of LaVerne), Salvador Orozco (Montebello HS) and Mark Arroyo (Schurr HS) were a three-headed monster in the win, as each of them scored three times, while Casillas and Arroro also recorded a trio of helpers. Excelling at both ends of the pool, Casillas also led the team with four steals and drew a pair of ejections. The Falcons received solid goaltending from sophomores Matthew Contreras (Montebello HS) and Jason Curiel (El Rancho HS), who combined for 16 saves. Freshman Arturo Ortuno (Universidad La Salle, Mexico) contributed three of the team's 12 steals on the day.
