After their 16-8 South Coast Conference loss to Long Beach City College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team fell out of a tie for first place. The Falcons (16-7, 2-1) will now host a one-day tournament on Friday and take on West Valley College at 10:10 a.m., followed by a 3:40 p.m. match against Palomar College. Earlier in the season, Cerritos defeated the Comets, 21-12 at the Southwestern College Labor Day Tournament.

Against the Vikings, the Falcons surrendered the first eight goals of the game before freshman Kobe Hurtado (Cerritos HS) got the team on the board with :22 seconds remaining in the first half. With the lopsided score, Cerritos used the opportunity to get more playing time for everyone and the team responded with six goals in the fourth quarter.

Cerritos scored four of the game's final six goals, with two of them coming from freshman Ruben Montoya (La Serna HS), along with sophomore Dominic Hernandez (Schurr HS) scoring twice, while providing the team with six man-advantage opportunities by drawing exclusions.

Hurtado assisted on a pair of goals for the Falcons, while sophomore goalkeeper Rene Borja (Schurr HS) turned away 11 shots before coming out of the game.
