In their final South Coast Conference match, the Cerritos College men's water polo team posted a 20-10 win over host El Camino College to lock down third place in the standings. Next up for the Falcons (19-12, 3-2) will be the conference tournament, which will take place next Friday and Saturday at El Camino.

Leading the way was sophomore Dominic Hernandez (Schurr HS), who accounted for the first two and last two goals in a 7-2 first period, where the Falcons opened up a lead they would not relinquish. Continuing his scoring onslaught, Hernandez added three more goals in the second preiod, en route to a season-high eight goals for the game.

Even with the eight goals by Hernandez, nine different players scored for Cerritos, with Kobe Hurtado (Cerritos HS) connecting in all three of his shots, while Abimael Anorve (MiraCosta HS) and Sebastian Rico (Montebello HS) each contributing a pair of goals.

The Warriors got as close as 13-7 in the third quarter, but Cerritos responded with six straight goals and were never threatened. Anorve also assisted on a career-high eight goals, while Allan Jimenez (Schurr HS) had four helpers and Hernandez finished with three.

Sophomore goalie Rene Borja (Schurr HS) returned to the net and posted four saves with two steals in three periods of work to earn the win.
