Competing against a field of 13 other schools, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in sixth place in the Brubaker Invitational on Friday morning. The Falcons compiled 168 team points and saw only one school from the South Coast Conference finish ahead of them out of the four colleges from the conference that competed. The team will run in the Highlander Classic next Saturday morning at the UC Riverside AG-OPS Course in Riverside.

Running the four-mile course, the first Cerritos runner to finish the race was freshman Pablo Calderon (Downey HS), who turned in one of his best performances of the season, as he finished 11th overall out of 153 runners with a time of 21:19.3, which was :16 seconds behind the first place finisher. There were multiple packs of runners throughout the course, so a strong leg kick at the end was crucial to a strong finish and place in the standings. Less than a minute later, freshman Jaime Quinones (Downey HS) crossed the finish line in a time of 21:42.5, which put him in 22nd place on the day, with sophomore Adrian Casas (Gahr HS) coming in 44th place when he crossed the finish line in 22:23.7.

Sophomore Jamal Awad (Warren HS) ran a solid race for the Falcons and completed the course in 22:33.4 to earn 53rd place, while freshman Mario Rodriguez (Warren HS) was the fifth Cerritos runner to finish, and took 68th place in a time of 22:59.9, which rounded out the team scoring.

Also competing on the day for Cerritos were Patrick Perez (Downey HS; 23:08.8; 72nd place), Ryan Bennett (California HS; 23:18.7; 78th place), Walter Ramirez (Mayfair HS; 24:19.4; 97th place), Darion Blanding (Narbonne HS; 24:33.6; 101st place), Demian Sanchez Lopez (Schurr HS; 24:43.8; 103rd place), Jarrian Harrison (Long Beach Wilson HS; 24:44.5; 104th place) and Joseph Rivera (South El Monte HS; 26:56.7; 130th place).
