Running in a meet filled primarily with four-year competition, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in 18th place at the Highlander Invitational. Running the 8K race at UC Riverside, the Falcons compiled 529 team points and finished ahead of two four-year schools on the day. The team will take a week off before hosting the South Coast Conference Championships on October 26 at Don Knabe Regional Community Park in Cerritos.

The difficult course resulted in the first Falcon to cross the finish line coming in 108th place out of 250 runners. Leading the way for Cerritos was Pablo Calderon (Downey HS), who checked in with a time of 26:30.7, which was two minutes behind the winner. But with so many runners and so many packs crossing the finish line at the same time, it was easy to slip way back in the pack. Just two seconds behind Calderon was Adrian Casas (Gahr HS), who took 110th place when he finished the race in 26:32.9.

Dropping to 158th place overall was Jaime Quinones (Downey HS), who was the third Falcon runner with a time of 27:21.9, while Jamal Awad (Warren HS) was close behind in 160th place in a time of 27:25.3. The fifth Cerritos runner was Ryan Bennett (California HS), who touched up in 28:44.4, which put him in 198th place.

Also competing for the Falcons on the day were Patrick Perez (Downey HS; 28:47.3; 201st place), Darion Blanding (Narbonne HS; 30:08.8; 221st place), Matthew Alcaraz (Schurr HS; 30:10.0; 22nd place), Jarrian Harrison (Long Beach Wilson HS; 30:40.0; 227th place), Demian Sanchez Lopez (Schurr HS; 31:14.8; 233rd place) and Joseph Rivera (South El Monte HS; 33:55.4; 243rd place).
