At the conclusion of the CCCAA State Wrestling Championships at San Joaquin Delta College, Cerritos College ended up in eighth place with 56.5 team points. The Falcons, who had four advance to the semi-finals, did not have anyone in the championship round for the second year in a row and had three teams from the Southwest Conference finish ahead of them. Sacramento City College ended the three-year championship reign by Fresno City by winning the title, with the Rams in second place. Conference foes Mt. San Antonio, Santa Ana and Palomar rounded out the top five team scoring.

Freshman 125-pound Dustin Kirk (Elsinore HS), sophomore 133-pound Greg Barrera (Northwest, TX HS), freshman 149-pound Keanu Tom (Los Alamitos HS) and freshman 285-pound Robert Chism (Downey HS) all opened the day two wins away from winning an individual state championship. However, all four were defeated and dropped into the consolation round.

Kirk lost his semi-final match to Arnulfo Olea of Fresno City College, someone he had defeated in two out of three matchups this season. After falling behind, 6-2 after the first period, Kirk had a chance to pull out the win with a pinfall, but ran out of time in the second period and saw a tie match turn into a 10-9 loss because of riding time for Olea. Kirk rebounded to post wins over Dieuminse Dore of Lassen College (9-3) and then handed Albert Landeros of Sacramento City College his second loss of the tournament with a 10-1 score.

Chism concluded his two weeks of Falcon wrestling with a fourth place finish and All-American status. He led top-ranked Dereck Lee of West Hills, 4-1 in his semi-final match, but got caught early in the third period and was pinned. After a 3-1 overtime win over Mike Branson of Shasta College advanced him to the third place match, Chism ran out of gas and was pinned in 6:53 by Travis Smith of Modesto College.

At 149 pounds, Tom was unable to get off to a good start against Martine Sandoval of Fresno City in his semi-final match and was defeated, 13-5. He was then pinned by Joseph Ontiveros of Fresno City in 3:58 before ending his day with an 18-5 major decision against Will Upson of Sacramento City to come in fifth place. Barrera had a short day, as he defaulted himself out of the tournament after suffering a 9-1 loss to Alex Perez of West Hills in his semi-final match and ended up in sixth place.

Freshman 184-pound Jeremiah Gerl (Calvary Chapel HS) opened with a 6-5 win in the consolation round, but then dropped a controversial 4-3 overtime decision against Nathan Rodriguez of Mt. San Antonio. He took out his aggression against Allen Emmons of Sacramento City in the seventh place match and pinned him in 4:05. As for 141-pound freshman Eric Ambriz (Temescal Canyon HS), he started with a 16-8 win against Carson Homuth of Modesto Junior College, but then lost a couple of close matches and came in eighth place.
