Taking on a group of talented alumni players, this year's version of the Cerritos College women's water polo team was defeated, 19-9 on Saturday morning. The Falcons (7-5) watched the alumni score six straight goals in the second half to turn an 8-5 advantage into a 14-5 game. The team resumes South Coast Conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Chaffey College for a 3:00 p.m. match.

With multiple All-American and All-Southern California players competing for the alumni group, they were able to pull away from this year's group in the second half. Stephanie Rosero, who earned multiple post-season awards in her time with the Falcons, scored three times in the third period. In the fourth period, four different players found the back of the net before former All-American Katherine Gabayeron scored a pair for the alumni.

It was a tight game early, as four different players scored for Cerritos to stay within a 6-4 score in the second period before Nicole Tuning scored with :29 seconds left in the first half. All-Southern California goalie Sharon Ku, who holds the school record for most career saves, made three stops in the all-important third period. Rosero and Sharon Pedregon each scored five times for the alumni, with Gabayeron and All-Southern California selection and current assistant coach Catie Tuning each providing three goals.

This year's Falcons received three goals from Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS), who also had four steals, with freshman Carolina Medrano (Schurr HS) adding two goals and two steals. As a team, the Falcons turned the ball over 18 times, with sophomore goalie Dulce Medina (Paramount HS) posting five saves.
