With their 18-12 South Coast Conference win at Chaffey College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team remains undefeated in conference play. The Falcons (8-5, 4-0) will get the next week off until they compete in the Citrus Tournament, where they will play four games over two days next weekend.

In the win over the Panthers (4-5, 3-1), there were a total of 15 exclusions, with 10 of them coming in the second half. Cerritos took advantage of their opportunities and scored five times while up a player, and also converted on a five-meter goal after a penalty was called.

Offensively, the Falcons scored the game's first four goals and held a 10-5 lead at halftime. The Panthers closed the score to within 12-9 at the end of the third period, but Cerritos accounted for six goals in the fourth period, with freshman Kate De La Mora (Schurr HS) picking up two of them. Helping the team get out to an early lead was freshman Carolina Medrano (Schurr HS), who scored three of her team-leading six goals in each half. It was a quartet of players that registered all 18 goals for Cerritos, with De La Mora finishing with five goals on the day.

Freshman Mayra Olivas (Montebello HS) was effective on defense, as she recorded a game-high seven steals and also added three goals, with sophomore Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS) producing four goals in the win. Sophomore goalkeeper Dulce Medina (Paramount HS) turned away six shots to earn the win.
