W. Water Polo: Cerritos posts conference win over East LA

Locked in a 5-5 score with visiting East Los Angeles College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team turned to Citlali Antonio (El Rancho HS), who scored three times in the third period to help the team pull away for a 14-6 win. The victory improved the Falcons record to 4-11 overall and 4-1 in South Coast Conference play. The team will host a one-day tournament on Friday, with Cerritos facing Golden West College (8:00 a.m.) and Palomar College (10:20 a.m.).

Antonio, who led Cerritos with six goals on the day, scored twice within 33 seconds of each other and then closed out the scoring in the third period to give the Falcons a 9-6 lead heading into the fourth period. The team outscored the Huskies (1-12, 1-4), 5-0 in the final period to lock down the win.

Freshman goalkeeper Fenix Nolasco (Paramount HS), who made eight saves in the win, also scored her fourth goal of the season, as she tied the game at 2-2 on her tally with only eight seconds left in the first period.

Antonio opened the scoring in the fourth period with a pair of goals, while freshman Fiona Glynn (Cerritos HS), who led the team with four assists and four steals, scored both of her goals in the fourth period.
