Competing against 23 other schools at the SoCal Preview Meet on Friday in San Diego, the Cerritos College women's cross country team came in fifth place. The Falcons compiled 169 team points and saw just one of the other five teams from the South Coast Conference finish ahead of them. Next up will be the Golden West Invitational on Friday at Central Park in Huntington Beach.

Leading the way on the 5K course at Mission Bay Park was Marylu Pulido (Whittier HS), who posted a sixth place time of 19:33.2. She was part of the lead pack that set the pace early on, which also included Malissa Salazar (Paramount HS), whose time of 20:00.3 earned her a 10th place finish out of 177 runners. Although there was a drop-off before the next Falcon runner crossed the finish line, it was a pair of runners who completed within two seconds of each other. Alexis Garfias (Schurr HS) posted a 36th place time of 20:51.8, while Stephanie Perea saw her time of 20:53.9 put her in 37th place.

Completing the five-person team scoring was Elsa Vazquez Vallin (Warren HS), who recorded a time of 22:11.9, which put her in 80th place. Nieva Cuevas (Western HS) also ran the course and posted a 90th place time of 22:46.0.

Those who ran in the 5K open race included Kathia Munoz (Paramount HS), who came in 12th place in a time of 22:42.6, while Brianna Gill (La Serna HS) earned 21st place with her clocking of 23:45.3. Lissette Rodriguez (Bellflower HS) completed the course in 24:55.9 for 30th place, with Jaida Bailey (Vista del Lago HS) posting a 41st place time of 26:46.9.
