Keeping Compton College off guard for seven innings, Cerritos College sophomore pitcher Micah Hee (Kamehameha, HI HS) recorded 10 strikeouts in the Falcons 4-1 South Coast Conference win on Thursday. The win was the fourth in a row for the Falcons (23-7, 8-4), who sit atop of South Division. The two teams will meet up at noon on Saturday at Kincaid Field.

Hee (3-1) was spotted a 4-0 lead after the first 3 1/2 innings, where he had already posted five strikeouts by then. The Tartars (9-21) scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth, but were limited to just two singles the remainder of the game. Freshman Eric Winchester (Walnut HS) pitched the eighth inning, with sophomore Edgar Velasquez (Montebello HS) earning his sixth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning that included a pair of strikeouts.

At the plate, the Falcons got on the board after two were out in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Ramon Bramasco (Cathedral HS), who served as the designated hitter, drew a walk and advanced to third base on a base hit by sophomore Jesus Mercado (St. John Bosco HS), who took over third baseman duties in the game. Bramasco scored the game's first run on a wild pitch. Cerritos added to their lead in the third inning, again with two outs. Sophomore Rollie Nichols (Serra HS), who was playing second base, singled and stole second base. That set the table for Bramasco, who drove him in with a single to right field.

Freshman first baseman Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) singled and stole second base with two outs in the fourth inning and came home on a triple by sophomore outfielder Nick Penzetta (Kamehameha, HI HS). The Falcons scored their final run on a base hit by freshman outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez (Santa Fe HS), which drove in Penzetta.

Bramasco, Mercado and Michael Gonzalez all had a pair of hits for the Falcons.
