In a battle of two Top 10 ranked teams in the state, the Cerritos College men's basketball team registered a big 68-61 win over host Allan Hancock College on Saturday. The Falcons (8-1), winners of their last four games and ranked #8 in the latest CCCMBCA poll, posted the eighth and final lead change in the second half to defeat the #10-ranked Bulldogs (7-2). Next up will be a road trip to College of the Sequoias next weekend for the COS Windham Classic, with Cerritos opening against Fresno City College at 3:00 p.m. next Friday.

In the win over Allan Hancock, sophomore Dezmon Murphy (La Mirada HS) came off the bench to post a double-double, as he led all scorers with 20 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs took a 56-55 lead with 4:51 left in regulation until freshman Chance Hunter (Inglewood HS) came right down and scored on a layup to put the Falcons in the lead for good. Hunter then added a free throw on the team's next possession, while freshman Jonathan Galang (Narbonne HS) followed with a layup to put Cerritos in front, 60-56.

Murphy, who converted 14-of-18 free throws, drained a pair after he was fouled with 3:04 left, with Hunter adding a bucket to put the team up, 64-56 with 2:29 left on the clock. Although the Falcons made just two of their final four free throws, they were able to use their tight defense to limit Allan Hancock to just 2-for-7 shooting after taking the lead.

In addition to Murphy's output, Hunter produced 11 points and 11 boards, with Galang and sophomore Christian Alvides-Labadie (Whittier Christian HS) each accounting for 10 points.
