Looking to rebound from the worst home loss in school history, the Cerritos College men's basketball team took out their aggressions on host Rio Hondo College on Friday night. In their South Coast Conference crossover game, the Falcons (13-3) recorded a 102-50 win over the Roadrunners (3-13), which was the largest margin of victory ever against Rio Hondo. It was also the largest margin of victory by a Cerritos team since a 51-point win over Marin College (102-71) in 2001. The team will travel to Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. conference crossover game.

In a rare occurrence, sophomore guard Jamal Heckard (Carson HS/El Camino College) turned in a triple-double, which included 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. It's the first time the feat has been accomplished by a Falcon player in nearly 20 years.

It didn't take long for Cerritos to get out to an early lead, as they scored the first six points of the game and pushed the lead to double-digits midway through the first half on a layup by sophomore Dezmon Murphy (La Mirada HS) for a 23-13 advantage. It was a 14-point lead after sophomore Tawon Elston (Roosevelt HS) drained a three-pointer to make it 32-18 with 8:23 on the clock. A three-pointer from sophomore Cody Wilkes (La Mirada HS) swelled the lead to 45-25 with 4:27 left in the first half, while the Falcons took a 52-28 advantage into halftime.

Shooting 61% from the field in both halves allowed Cerritos to add to their lead in the second half, while they used their inside strength to score 48 of their points in the paint. All 12 players who saw action got on the scoreboard, with freshman Chance Hunter (Inglewood HS) leading the team with 20 points, while adding five rebounds. Elston produced 19 points off the bench, which included a trio of three-pointers, five rebounds and five assists, with Wilkes netting four three-pointers and finishing with 14 points.

Several other outstanding all-around performances were turned in by Cerritos players, including Murphy, who posted eight points, five rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists, with sophomore Darryl McMillon, Jr. (View Park Prep HS) adding five points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two assists. As a team, the Falcons scored 47 of their points off the bench, along with 26 rebounds.
