It was only eight days ago, but the Cerritos College men's soccer team was facing Golden West College for the second time this season. After handily defeating them, 2-0 in the first meeting, the Falcons were unable to get on the board on Friday and had to settle for a 0-0 draw. Cerritos (4--1-1) will now host Taft College at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday in a non-conference game.

Falcon head coach Benny Artiaga was a bit disappointed in his team's effort, especially after playing such a dominant game the first time against the Rustlers. "I didn't think wer played particularly well today, especially in the second half," said Artiaga. "It's always difficult to get your guys up to play a game where they were fairly dominant against the same opponent. We thought we prepared well, but I guess it was not intense enough. We'll clean up some things and get better from this."

In the first half, the Cerritos defense had to hold off an aggressive Golden West team, and looked to freshman goalkeeper Brett Hughes (Long Beach Wilson HS), who made a couple of strong saves to keep the game scoreless. But it was the play of Rustler goalkeeper Diego Chacon that kept the Falcons off the board, as he made a save on a point blank shot by freshman forward Jose Rivera (Torrance HS) in the bottom left corner that almost assuerdly looked like it would be a goal.
