On the strength of their 2-1 win over Mt. San Antonio College in their final regular season game, the Cerritos College men's soccer team moved to #2 in the seeding and earned a bye in the first Round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (13-5-3), second place finishers in the South Coast Conference, will host the winner of the #7-seeded Los Angeles Mission game against #10 Santa Ana College at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Cerritos, who was #5 in the power ranking before their win over Mt. SAC, moved all the way up to #2, with Golden West College receiving the #1 seed. The Falcons own a win and tie over the Rustlers this season.

If the team faces LA Mission (12-5-4), they will be playing the second place team out of the Western State Conference, while the Dons (12-4-5) came in second place in the Orange Empire Conference. The Eagles are led by Ericson Penate with his 14 goals on the year, while Fabian Garcia has posted eight goals and nine assists. Santa Ana is paced by Damian Marquez (13 goals) and Ivan Orozco (12 goals).

As for the Falcons, they have looked to Jose Rivera (Torrance HS), who leads the team with 10 goals, while Gerardo Soto (Salesian HS) has dished out 11 assists. It's been balanced attack for Cerritos with eight players scoring at least three goals, while freshman Benito Gonzalez (Long Beach Wilson HS) has come on as the full-time goalie and has posted a 1.11 goals against average.
